Southwestern secures 2-0 road win over Bulldogs

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Southwestern Pirates scored a 2-0 win Friday night against Texas Lutheran in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer action.
 
The Pirates improved to 12-4 overall and to 4-2 in the SCAC.
 
TLU fell to 7-7-1 overall and to 2-4 in the SCAC.
 
Alexis Guajardo gave the Pirates a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute with an assist from Alexis Barrientez.
 
Maya Fuller put Southwestern in front 2-0 with a goal in the 75th minute. The goal came off a double-assist from Hallie Rutherford and Juliet Pridgen.
 
Southwestern out-shot TLU 25-2 and had a 12-1 edge in shots on goal.
 
Madison Stout made 10 saves in goal for TLU. Mary Cardone needed to make just one save for Southwestern.
 
TLU plays its final two regular-season games of 2019 with road contest next Friday and Sunday against Centenary College (La.) and St. Thomas (Texas), respectively.
