SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran senior Colin Uecker (Kerrville/Tivy) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for a fourth time in the 2018-19 season.
Uecker won his seventh career collegiate men's golf tournament - and his fourth of 2018-19 - by firing a final round 69 to finish five shots clear of the field at the West Region Invitational, which was contested at the Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown.
Texas Lutheran finished second to Southwestern in the team race by a single shot.
Uecker was the only golfer in the 45-player field to finish under par after posting rounds of 72-72-69. He finished at 213 (-3).
TLU, ranked 24th in the latest GolfStat statistical rankings for NCAA Division III, will be back in action Monday with 36 holes at the McMurry University ASC Preview. The two-round event will be played at Comanche Trace in Kerrville, Texas.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Devon Home of Southwestern finished tied for second with his teammate Matthew Christl at the West Region Invitational. Home posted rounds of 72-79-67 and finished at 218 (+2). His third round 67 (-5) was the low round of the tournament. Sophomore Emilio Montalvo of Dallas finished tied for eighth place with teammate Robby Evans at the West Region Invitational to lead the Crusaders. Montalvo moved up seven spots after he finished +1 on Tuesday's final round for a 226 (76-76-73). Junior Reed Balcerowicz of Centenary led the Gents with an 18th-place individual finish, firing rounds of 77-75-78 for a 230 (+14).
