SAN ANTONIO - The Texas Lutheran women's cross country team opened its 2010 season Wednesday at Trinity University's annual two-mile opener in San Antonio's Brackenridge Park.
The Bulldogs collected a team score of 79. The University of Texas-San Antonio won the meet with a score of 23. Trinity University finished second with 37 points.
TLU received a team-best, ninth-place finish from freshman Keelin Treacy (Corpus Christi/Flour Bluff), who crossed the finish line in 12 minutes, 12 seconds.
Treacy was followed by teammates Marrisa Marshall (Sweeny/Sweeny, 18th, 13:51), Blaine Morgan (Gonzales/Gonzales, 19th, 13:57), Melissa Longoria (San Antonio/Providence, 20th, 14:01), and Chelsea Johnson (Katy/Cinco Ranch, 21st, 14:02).
Rounding out the field for the Bulldogs were: Ashley Meadows (Schertz/FEAST Home School, 22nd, 14:14), Samantha Gutierrez (Converse/Judson, 24th, 15:07), Caitlin Wilson (Anchorage, Alaska/Dimond, 25th, 15:31), Amber Martinez (Odem/Odem, 26th, 15:33) and Felicia Rodriguez (San Antonio/Stevens, 28th, 17:37).
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, Sept. 11 with the University of Texas-Tyler Invitational in Tyler, Texas. The UT-Tyler 6,000-meter race will start at 7:30 a.m.
