SEGUIN, Texas - Keelin Treacy, a member of USA Triathlon's 2010 national team, will attend Texas Lutheran University and will compete for the Bulldogs' women's cross country and women's track and field teams.

TLU is an exclusively undergraduate university of the liberal arts, sciences and professional studies. TLU is a member of the NCAA Division III and competes in the American Southwest Conference. As a member of the NCAA DIII, TLU does not award athletic scholarships, but approximately 95 percent of TLU students receive financial assistance.

The National Letter of Intent and "signing day" do not apply to NCAA Division III student-athletes. TLU may release names of incoming student-athletes once they have been accepted to TLU and have paid their student deposit.

Treacy will enter TLU as a true freshman. She is a graduate of Corpus Christi's Flour Bluff High School.

Treacy will join TLU women's cross country and women's track and field programs that have won a combined five ASC championships and three NCAA Division III Championships (in single track and field events) since 2002. Most recently, the Bulldogs' women's track and field team produced an NCAA Division III national championship when Briana Aiken won the 2010 long jump. The Bulldogs were the 2010 ASC Champions in women's track and field.

The TLU women's cross country and women's track and field teams are coached by Patrick Zarate, who enters his fifth year as the Bulldogs' head coach.

Treacy will compete as a member of Team USA in the International Triathlon Union World Championships, to be contested in Budapest, Hungary on Sept. 7-13. She qualified for the world championships by winning the junior championship at the Quad Cities World Qualifier Sprint Triathlon in Davenport, Iowa. She completed the event's 600-yard swim, 15-mile bike, and 3.1-mile run in 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 24 seconds.

Treacy was a USAT All-American in 2009 after achieving a national junior age-group ranking of No. 5. In the early 2010 national rankings for the duathlon, Treacy holds the No. 1 ranking in her age group.

Treacy also earned 2009 USAT All-Region rankings in the USAT South Midwest Region, which includes the states of Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. She was the region's No. 2-ranked junior triathlete.

Some of Treacy's triathlon wins include: overall female champion at 2009 AVIA Austin Sprint Triathlon, overall female champion in 2009 AMICA Sprint Triathlon (in Sugar Land, Texas), overall female champion in 2010 Capitol of Texas Sprint Triathlon, and the junior female champion at the 2010 USAT South Midwest Region Duathlon (run-bike-run in Houston).

Treacy was a regional qualifier for Flour Bluff High School from 2007-09. She was named to the All-South Texas Team in 2007, and she won the 3,000 meters in the 2008 AAU South Texas District Championships.

Treacy graduated from Flour Bluff High School in Flour Bluff's "distinguished academic" course plan. She was a UIL Scholar Award recipient and garnered the Flour Bluff High School Award of Academic Distinction. Treacy also was a member of Flour Bluff's Spanish Honor Society.
