SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran's Jacqueline Allen and Tiffany Wetz have advanced to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot for the Women's Track & Field/Women's Cross Country program.

Allen and Wetz are eligible for Academic All-America honors after being named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VI First Team in the college division.

Allen (Katy/Mayde Creek) is a May graduate of TLU. She majored in kinesiology.

Allen is TLU's 2009-10 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and TLU's 2009-10 Female Sportsmanship Award Winner. Allen also holds the American Southwest Conference and TLU awards for Distinguished Scholar-Athlete in Women's Track & Field. She also was TLU's Distinguished Scholar-Athlete for Women's Cross Country.

Allen, a four-year letterwinner in both women's cross country and women's track & field, is a three-time Academic All-ASC selection in both sports. She was a member of TLU's 2010 ASC Championship squad in women's track and field. She was seventh in the javelin at the ASC Championships.

Wetz (Spring Branch/Bracken Christian) is a junior at TLU, where she majors in Business Administration with an emphasis in management. She is an English minor.

Wetz was one of TLU's top distance runners on the ASC Championship squad with finishes of third in the 10,000 meters, fourth in the 5,000, and eighth in the 1,500. TLU won the conference meet by 4.5 points. Wetz was an All-ASC selection in 2009 after winning both the 5,000 and 10,000 at the conference championships.

An active member of the TLU community, Wetz has been named to the Provost's List and Dean's List. She is vice president of Delta Mu Delta (business honor society) and a member of Delta Epsilon Iota (honor society), Alpha Kappa Psi (professional business fraternity) and Alphi Chi (honor society). She also serves as a Department of Theology student assistant.

Wetz currently has a business management internship at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center. She is a two-time ASC All-Academic selection, a Day of the Dogs community service volunteer, and a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) selects Academic All-America teams in 12 programs: football, women's volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's track & field/cross country, women's track & field/cross country, men's at-large and women's at-large.
