SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran sophomore pitcher Brad Orosey, senior second baseman Andrew Femath, and senior outfielder Ryan Nokelby each earned spots on the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-West Region Teams for NCAA Division III.
Orosey was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region First Team. Femath grabbed a spot on the All-West Region Second Team, and Nokelby was named to the All-West Region Third Team.
Femath also was selected to the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Team for the West Region. Femath was the Gold Glove Team's second baseman.
Orosey, an All-American as selected by both ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com, was TLU's staff ace in 2010. He posted a 10-1 record with a 3.15 ERA. He struck out 104 batters in 97.0 innings, and he walked only 21.
Orosey was named the 2010 American Southwest Conference West Division Pitcher of the Year, and he was named to the 2010 ASC West Division First Team.
For his career, Orosey is 20-2 with eight complete games, 189.0 innings pitched, 196 strikeouts, and an ERA of 3.43. For the 2010 NCAA Division III statistical rankings through May 23, Orosey ranks fourth in the nation in strikeouts and seventh in wins.
Femath led the entire ASC in runs, with 59, and was second in the ASC in stolen bases, with 21 steals in 22 attempts. Femath hit .394 and started in all 45 of TLU’s games in 2010. He had 10 doubles, two triples, and four home runs. He posted an on-base percentage of .488, and he made only six errors at second base all season.
Femath also was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI First Team for the college division.
Nokelby became the ASC’s all-time hits leader during the 2010 ASC Championship Tournament, in the championship round played at TLU. Nokelby collected record-breaking hit No. 268, a two-RBI single against Mississippi College, and recorded two more hits at the tournament to bring his career total to 270.
In 2010, Nokelby hit a team-best .414 with a team-high 72 hits, 16 doubles, and four triples. He drove in 42 runs and scored 50 times. He also walked a team-best 28 times and stole 7-of-8 bases. Nokelby also did not commit an error all season. He started all 45 games of 2010 and started 28 of those games in center field.
Nokelby also was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Third Team and to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team.
TLU won the American Southwest Conference West Division for a second consecutive year and won a divisional playoff series in the ASC Championship Tournament (also for a second straight year).
The Bulldogs, under third-year head coach Greg Burnett, concluded the 2010 season with a 32-13 overall record and a mark of 15-6 in the ASC West Division. TLU has won (or shared) eight of the last 10 ASC West Division Championships.
