SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran sophomore right-hander Brad Orosey has been named a Second Team All-American on the 2010 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-America Team for NCAA Division III.
Orosey, a Houston native and product of Cypress Creek High School, was previously named a Third Team All-American by D3baseball.com.
Joining Orosey on the ABCA/Rawling All-America Team is fellow American Southwest Conference player Regan Dixon of Hardin-Simmons. Dixon, a catcher, was named a Third Team All-American.
Orosey is the 26th playing All-American in Bulldog baseball history. He is the fifth player in school history to earn multiple All-America honors. Orosey joined Ken Voges (1962, 1963, 1964), Mark Wieczorek (1986, 1987), Aaron Merhoff (1998, 1999), and Aaron Crais (2005, 2006) as multi-year All-Americans.
Orosey dominated for the Bulldogs in 2010. As TLU’s No. 1 starter for the entire year, Orosey posted a 10-1 record with a 3.15 ERA. He struck out 104 batters in 97.0 innings, and he walked only 21.
For his career, Orosey is 20-2 with eight complete games, 189.0 innings pitched, 196 strikeouts, and an ERA of 3.43.
For the 2010 NCAA Division III statistical rankings through May 23, Orosey ranks fourth in the nation in strikeouts and seventh in wins.
With Orosey as the ace of the staff, TLU won the American Southwest Conference West Division for a second consecutive year and won a divisional playoff series in the ASC Championship Tournament (also for a second straight year).
The Bulldogs concluded the 2010 season with a 32-13 overall record and a mark of 15-6 in the ASC West Division. TLU has won (or shared) eight of the last 10 ASC West Division Championships.
Over his first eight starts of 2010, Orosey was 8-0 with a 1.45 ERA. In that stretch, Orosey tossed a no-hitter against Southwestern on Feb. 13, struck out 66 batters in 56 innings, and walked only 12.
Orosey was named the 2010 American Southwest Conference West Division Pitcher of the Year, and he was named to the 2010 ASC West Division First Team.
Orosey struck out a conference-high 104 batters and was second in the league in innings pitched (97.0) and in opponent batting average (.225).
Orosey is the son of Brad and Cindy Orosey of Houston, Texas.
