SEGUIN, Texas -- Haiti's national men's soccer team will practice at Texas Lutheran's Gustafson Soccer Field for two weeks, starting Monday, in preparation for a May 5 match against Argentina.
The Haitian national team will train Monday through Friday over two weeks from 8 a.m. to noon at Gustafson Field.
Due to the devastation in Haiti from the Jan. 12 earthquake, the team has traveled to Texas. The team is currently lodged at T Bar M Resort and Conference Center in New Braunfels.
All national team players survived the earthquake in Haiti, but 30 Fédération Haitienne de Football staff members died in the collapse of the team’s headquarters.
After the match against Argentina, the team will play in the Caribbean Cup. Haiti won the Caribbean Cup in 2007.
Haiti will play an exhibition match at 7 p.m. Monday against Trinity University in San Antonio. The match will be the first for the Haitian team since the earthquake.
