The Texas Lutheran women’s tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Howard Payne in Brownwood on Friday and fell 9-0 to McMurry University in Seguin on Saturday.
The Bulldogs recorded three singles wins against Howard Payne. Adriana Rodriguez, Shannon Hafterson and Jessica Flayer won at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Rodriguez (Lockhart/Lockhart) defeated Stephanie Stokes 6-0, 6-1, and Shannon Hafterson (San Antonio/St. Anthony’s) handed Carlee Ammons a 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 defeat.
Flayer (Tucson, Ariz./Immaculate Heart) won 6-3, 7-5 over Makenzie Morren.
Against McMurry at the TLU Tennis Courts, only Meredith Davis (Fredericksburg/Fredericksburg) managed a third set. Davis fell at No. 1 singles 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) with a third-set, 10-point tiebreaker deciding the match.
The Bulldogs dropped to 0-10 overall and to 0-6 in the American Southwest Conference with the two team losses. TLU concludes the 2010 season with a Wednesday match at the Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
